The United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) is almost here, and to commemorate the occasion the Climate Investment Funds ChangeMakers Initiative and the Glasgow City Council, a ChangeMakers partner and COP26 city host, are organizing a projection exhibit at the St. Andrews Cathedral in Scotland. The projections feature ChangeMakers from around the world who have dedicated their time and work to tackling the climate crisis.
Councillor Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council, said, “These projections celebrate the important steps these individuals have taken in tackling climate change, and I hope the campaign encourages citizens and visitors to the city to create their own climate action commitment."
Since the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released their damaging climate change report this year, COP26 and climate action have taken on even greater importance for the international climate community and general public. Now, more than ever, individuals need to act against climate change and inspire others to commit to change. ChangeMakers know it is possible to make a positive impact on the environment, no matter where a person lives or how they choose to support climate action. The initiative hopes to inspire a grassroots movement that holds world leaders and nations feeling responsible and accountable for a sustainable, ‘clean and green’ world.
To celebrate this message, St Andrews Cathedral will be illuminated with imagery of real ChangeMakers sparking important change. They include:
The projection exhibit will run throughout COP26, ushering world leaders into climate negotiations and talks starting Sunday, October 31.
