Brazil is tapping $100 million in grant and near-zero interest financing from the FIP to promote sustainable management and use of previously anthropized savannah woods areas, to maintain carbon stocks and reduce GHG emissions, and to improve the collection and management of
information on the Cerrado biome. Brazil's Forest Investment Plan consists of 6 projects, plus a $3M loan for a private sector project and a $6.5M grant for the Dedicated Grant Mechanism project benefiting Indigenous People and Local Communities.
In order to strengthen the Brazilian Federal Government capacity to coordinate the Brazil Investment Plan projects, the FIP approved a $1M grant for the FIP Coordination project. The objective of the coordination project is to strengthen supervision, planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting on the implementation of all FIP projects in the country.
