NYC Climate Week, held under the theme “We Can. We Will” from September 17, and the United Nations Climate Ambition Summit on September 20, are two of the biggest climate convenings in the world, with over 400 events and thousands of participants, including representatives from the Climate Investment Funds. We will leverage this platform to meet with our partners to advance climate finance objectives. Specifically, the team will focus on industry decarbonization, renewable energy and integration, battery storage, coal transition, Nature-based Solutions, climate-smart cities, and gender equality.
The CIF delegation, led by interim CEO Luis Tineo, will participate in various events related to these priority activities. For example, Luis will present CIF’s Industry Decarbonization investment program at UNIDO's High Level Ministerial/CEO Dialogue on Financing Decarbonization of Heavy Emitting Industries. He will also join the Powering Past Coal Alliance Managed Coal Phaseout Roundtable, to highlight progress on CIF’s Accelerating Coal Transition program. Finally, CIF will be present at the United Nations Secretariat General event on battery storage, raising awareness on this crucial component for the energy transition.
