Kyrgyz Republic is a landlocked country, bordered by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Located in Central Asia between two major mountain systems, the Tien Shan and the Pamirs, 94 percent of the country is above 1,000 meters (m). The country is vulnerable to a wide variety of natural hazards, including earthquakes, droughts, land and mudslides, flash floods, and glacier lake outburst floods (GLOFs).
INVESTING IN KYRGYZ
CIF’s investment in Kyrgyz Republic is through its Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR). Kyrgyz Republic's development of a strategic program for climate resilience under PPCR is aimed at supporting climate resilience and capacity building across the agricultural, water, and energy sectors, and enhancing capacity for climate adaptation at the institutional level. It also focused on empowering food insecure and vulnerable communities though improved climate services, promoting climate-resilient livelihoods, and improving land, forest, and water resources management
