Cameroon

Cameroon

Cameroon, situated on the western central coast of Africa along the Gulf of Guinea, is bordered by Nigeria, Chad, Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon. Cameroon is vulnerable to sea-level rises and recurrent floods, with its coastal regions at the highest risk of flood mortality, while its northern regions are at the highest risk of drought mortality rates. Cameroon's vulnerability is exacerbated by the reliance of 60 percent of its population on agriculture for their livelihoods.

INVESTING IN CAMEROON

Cameroon

CIF's investment in Cameroon is through its Forest Investment Program (FIP). Cameroon’s FIP investment plan sets out a roadmap for promoting synergies between adaptation and mitigation efforts, increasing carbon stocks, and restoring degraded landscapes. This is done through projects in forestry, agriculture, livestock, and energy, with cross-cutting concerns of gender and social equity. Objectives include promoting sustainable forest management practices in wet and dry land forests, encouraging low-carbon agriculture, enhancing investments in wood energy, popularizing green energies, promoting sustainable mining, improving inclusive land use planning and governance, and developing ecotourism.
