The Climate Investment Funds is once again pleased to be participating in this year's United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27). The team will be attending the conference and participating in numerous events.
CIF is one of the world’s largest multilateral funds helping low and middle income countries to adapt and mitigate climate change. Led by CEO Mafalda Duarte, CIF's team will be attending the conference and participating in numerous events.
Climate finance is a key topic on the agenda. Since 2008, CIF has been providing highly competitive financing that reduces risk for investors, lowering barriers to piloting new technologies, scaling-up proven solutions, opening sustainable markets, and mobilizing private sector capital for climate action. It has supported more than 370 projects in 72 countries.
An outcome from last year's COP26 was the Glasgow Climate Pact which committed the 2020s as a decade of climate action and focus on keeping the global temperature rise limited to 1.5 degrees. The deal included commitments from countries to curb GHG emissions, support efforts for to build resilience and to provide financing for both.
Also completed was the operational rulebook for The Paris Agreement, a binding international treaty focused on combating climate change and adapting to its effects.
