 For more information, contact: Construction Innovation Forum 734/995-1855 Fax: 734/995-5002 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 2, 1998 The Construction Innovation Forum announces major enhancements to web site (Ann Arbor, Michigan) - The Construction Innovation Forum (CIF) recently announced several additions to its web site at www.cif.org. These changes include an easily accessible database of NOVA Award nominations, downloadable versions of the 1999 nominations in their original form and mock jury kits. The new construction nominations database houses the more than 300 nominations for the NOVA Award since 1989. The new searchable database enables the viewer to look up a past nomination by keyword, title and/or year. A title listing of nominations matching the search allows the user to pick the nomination for which they would like more information. Each nomination includes a short description, contact person, address and web site address (if available). Roger Lane, CIF Chairman, explains, "The goal of the new database-driven portion of the web site is to help viewers search for the innovations quickly, and this database does just that." Mr. Lane also commended General Motors, NAO Facilities Engineering, for funding the development of the web database. Additionally, for the first time, the 1999 nominations are available on the web site before the 1999 NOVA Award winners are announced. They are available both in summary version and in an unabridged version, as submitted to CIF. Both versions provide a name and address to contact for more information. Also new is the addition of a Mock Jury kit on the web site for colleges and schools of construction. The CIF Mock Jury is a way for students to get hands-on experience with evaluating construction projects. Students review the same NOVA Award nomination books and conduct a Mock Jury Screening Meeting in the same way as the actual NOVA Award jury. With the Mock Jury kits now available online, more colleges can participate. To date, five colleges have participated. The Construction Innovation Forum is an international non-profit corporation that rewards innovation in construction. Each year innovation is recognized with the NOVA Award. The next NOVA Awards ceremony will be held during the 11th Annual Innovation Celebration on March 11, 1999. The event will be held at the Laurel Manor in Livonia, Michigan.
