Description: |
Segmental Construction of Steel Structures is a system for erecting structural steel for chemical processing plants. The system permits ironworkers to assemble steel floor segments at grade and then lift them into place. The floor segment includes the columns for the floor above. Erection is simplified by a patented "Pinhole Safety Connector" consisting of two plates. One plate at the column top has a pin welded to it and the other plate on the bottom of the column on the floor segment has a matching hole. The floor segment is guided into place using tag lines. The system was developed by the Dow Chemical Company. Keywords: prefab |
