Year:

1992

Description:

BauMeshtm Confinement Reinforcement uses welded wire rods to replace conventional reinforcing ties and stirrups. It is made of cold drawn smooth wire that is cut and placed into jigs where it is fuse welded. Jigs can be set up to provide any desired configuration of the wires. Major reinforcing bars are more accurately placed and more uniformly supported than if conventional ties are used. This results in reliable ductile performance of the concrete elements which is of importance in seismic areas. BauMeshtm eliminates the hooks and rod extensions needed for conventional ties, thus reducing congestion of the reinforcing and easing the placement of the concrete. BauMeshtm requires less steel than conventional tie systems and reduces labor and costs.
