PerSpective™ is a system for streamlining communications between a facility owner and a design-builder. It may also be used by a design-builder to communicate with materials suppliers and subcontractors during the proposal process or while refining the design after contract execution. The core of PerSpective™ is a Windows-based, relational database of performance building descriptions. The database may be used to define requirements for buildings and their sites that are presented in an owner's requirements document or a formal Request for Proposal (RFP). It may also be used for proposals prepared either in response to an owner's requirements document or to an RFP, or for materials suppliers' and subcontractors' proposals for specific products or materials. This system offers a database of thousands of performance requirements and related performance criteria that refer to nationally accepted industry standards. The organization of PerSpective's performance requirements is based upon the UniFormat™ system. Because both the owner and design-builder draw upon the same database, the requirements document and the proposal are organized in exactly the same way, performance requirements and their reference standards are identical in both documents, and terminology is standardized.
