Year:

1990

Description:

A technology is presented for monitoring the quality of arc welds as they are being made. The system monitors the primary welding parameters and determines if they are within acceptable limits and notes any exceptions. The device evaluates the weld-arc spectrum and identifies the chemical signatures of the elements in the arc's atmosphere and determines the quantity of elements present. This information assists in making decisions concerning the weld.
